Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, whisk the melted butter with both sugars until smooth and shiny.
- Add the eggs one at a time and mix until each is incorporated. Stir in the vanilla.
- In a separate bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
- Fold the dry mixture into the wet mixture gently until streaks of flour disappear. The dough should be thick and fudgy.
- Fold in the chocolate chips so they are distributed evenly.
Baking
- Scoop tablespoonfuls of dough and place them about 2 inches apart on the prepared sheet. Use the back of the spoon to round the tops gently.
- Bake for 10 to 12 minutes, until the edges are set and the tops show a light crackle.
- Let the cookies rest on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.
