Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 4 pieces chicken thighs, bone-in and skin-on (about 1.5 to 2 pounds total)
  • 1 cup barbecue sauce Use your favorite store-bought or homemade
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder, optional
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder, optional

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Position a rack in the center.
  2. Pat the thighs dry with paper towels. Season both sides with salt, pepper, and optional garlic and onion powder.
  3. Drizzle the baking dish with the olive oil and arrange the thighs skin-side up, leaving a little space between pieces.
  4. Spoon or pour the barbecue sauce over each thigh, coating the skin and sides. Reserve a few tablespoons if you want extra sauce for serving.
Cooking
  1. Bake for 35 to 40 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F and the sauce is bubbling around the edges.
  2. For extra crispness, switch the oven to broil for 2 to 3 minutes, watching closely so the sauce does not burn.
  3. Remove the chicken from the oven and let it rest for 5 minutes before serving.
